I was using GetResponse when I started my online business. It worked great until it didn’t work so great anymore, which led me to try Convertkit as an alternative to email marketing providers. In this article, I’ll tell you how I ended up choosing Convertkit over GetResponse and give you some insight into what you can expect from both services. Let’s get started!

The Cons of GetResponse

  • They don’t have an email marketing platform specifically for creators. Meaning there are a lot of businesses using it to send lower quality type emails compared to the value creators bring to their communities. Can mean that you are on a lower delivery rate.
  • The marketing platform they do have is difficult to use and not as simple or user-friendly as it could be. Their Automations look a bit outdated and can be confusing.
  • Inside Getresponse I've noticed when you have multiple lists if a subscriber subscribing, to multiple lists it will show more subscribers than you have. Adding on to your total subscriber account and charging you more, plus there are no refunds if you click and upgrade then forget to adjust your plan to before.
  • The platform doesn't offer marketing automation or Autoresponders on its entry plans. This means you cannot effectively manage and segment your list the way you need to, especially when you start building your list. You can get really lost with everything and miss out on powerful automation and list segmentation.
  • When using the Getresponsed marketing platform, there isn't a place where you can easily create payment gateways for your products/services!

With Getresponse, you can't do headline A/B testing or tag subscribers easily within the email builder and it makes me super frustrated navigating the automation and segmenting my list because sometimes I want to tag subscribers but I'm restricted by how it's formatted.

With ConvertKit, that doesn't matter! Get a fresh start with your email

You can set up full visual automation so that you can navigate the user interface smoothly. Create tag's on the fly and tag subscribers from an email they clicked within the email builder. You can also survey your subscribers and take them into a different automation.

The Pros of Convertkit

When I switched from GetResponse to ConvertKit as my email marketing platform for creators and I’m so happy I did! Here are a few reasons why:

ConvertKit is designed specifically for creators, so it has all of the features and integrations that I need to run my business.

The interface is much more user-friendly and intuitive than GetResponse, so it’s easier for me to get started with email marketing. And since there's segmentation and automation, I can take advantage of these powerful tools without having to pay for anything extra.

So if you're looking for an email marketing service that really understands your needs as a creator, then give ConvertKit a try. You won't regret it!

ConvertKit isn't just better for me because they have great customer service and tons of cool features. It's significantly better value than GetResponse, so it saves me money too!

My Experience

I switched from GetResponse to Convertkit as my email marketing platform for creators and I wanted to share my experience. Overall, I found that Convertkit was a much better marketing platform for creators.

The interface is more user-friendly and it's easier to segment your audience. Plus, the reporting is more robust and you can get a fresh start with your email list if you need to.

The one thing I don't like about Convertkit is that their landing page builder is not as flexible, but the templates are well laid out. However, even Getresponse and Mailchimps landing page builders are not as easy to customise either.

Which One Is Better?

If you're looking for an email marketing service, you may be wondering which one is better: Convertkit or Getresponse? Here's a quick rundown of the pros and cons of each, to help you make a decision.

The pro to Getresponse is that you can build websites and other additional things that take away from why you get an Email services provider. You can create campaigns for webinars, build subscriber lists and easily set up autoresponders. The downside is that it doesn't have as many email features as other services out there like Convertkit (like A/B testing).

Convertkit has automation, sequences with an unlimited number of landing pages and tons of great features like payment gateways, list segmentation and more!

It's also fairly priced at $29 per month or less if you have fewer subscribers while still getting the email management features and automation you need with an email marketing platform. They offer helpful tutorials and are working to keep email delivery high.

All around Convertkit is just a more pleasing email marketing tool to use and gives you everything you need as a Creator for your email marketing with "no fluff".
